Pompey forward Ronan Curtis has been called up, provisionally, by the Republic of Ireland for their upcoming international games with Denmark and Wales.

Surprising? No, absolutely not. Disappointing? Yes, to a degree as he’ll miss games.
Will probably miss Charton at home next month as well that’s international week I think

Congratulations to Curtis its what every player wants. Any idea what games he will miss?

Curtis was a near certainty to be called up by Martin O’Neil, who drafted him in from the U21 squad last month, where he remained an unused substitute against Poland.
It has been suggested Curtis’ decision to come to Fratton Park was in part made in the belief his international aspirations would be improved by playing for the Blues.
One of the reported reasons Ronan joined #Pompey was to further his international ambitions… I would be surprised if anybody had expected this to happen so quickly. Ronan’s form has certainly played a huge part in this????these experiences improve form further ???? #Congratulations

Yes, I’d agree with that. I wouldn’t have thought playing for Pompey would do anything but help Curtis’ international hopes, yet I wouldn’t have expected him to be there or thereabouts just yet.
I mean no disrespect to Wimbledon and/or Crawley, but these are games, if we had to pick, that we’d probably be happier with Curtis missing, wouldn’t we? He almost certainly wouldn’t have featured in the Checkatrade Trophy against Crawley in any case.
David Wheeler is probably the one who will come in with it time for the on-loan QPR forward to “step up to the mark”, which I believe he will.
Well time for Wheeler to step up to the mark whilst he’s gone then.

Congratulations to Curtis, who is continuing to have a dream start to the season.
Yes, we’ll miss Curtis against Wimbledon, but top quality footballers will be in demand and their country – depending on which country it is – will come calling. As was said on social media, I’ll hope Curtis can “smash it lad” having been called up again, this time making his senior bow?
