Keep Doing What We’ve Been Doing And We’ll Be Ok

|

More of the same please, eh? Gillingham are the latest side – and will hopefully become victims – Pompey face when they come to Fratton Park this afternoon.

11 games played, 8 won – including the victory at Coventry on Tuesday – and the others drawn. Top of League One, three points clear of second and with a six-point cushion over the third-placed team, could we have asked for more at this stage?

Will the Manager of the Month curse strike?!

Nope, not for Kenny Jackett as he missed out, despite continuing our unbeaten run and taking the Blues to the top of League One. Whatever had happened, basically if we “keep doing what we’ve been doing,” why shouldn’t we be ok, with or without that award?

Gillingham, third-bottom, come to Fratton struggling and having already been brushed aside 4-0 in the Checkatrade Trophy, which was something of a second-string side put out. Then again the Gills mixed up their selection too.

Assuming Gillingham’s struggles and our success means things will carry on that way this weekend could be a dangerous thing. However, I now believe due to the confidence that is flowing throughout all with a vested interest in Pompey, this will continue to carry us forward.

Ok, you can’t ever expect to win but, with all due respect to Gillingham, this, especially as the home side, is a game we really ought to be winning if we’re seriously going to challenge for promotion this term, correct?

Like I say, keep doing what we’ve been doing and we’ll be ok. Therefore, I’m going to confidently – not arrogantly or overly expectantly – say we’ll keep the form going and it’ll be another Pompey win this weekend…
