Return And Show Pompey The Player You Can Be

|

Andre Green came Fratton Park with quite a reputation. Certainly, a good few social media posters – some you have to take with a pinch of salt – were left disappointed the forward was allowed to leave Aston Villa.

His early performances didn’t do too much to convince some. In fact, Green was but whipped off at half time against Shrewsbury on his League One debut. So, this didn’t do much to deter his detractors – I’ll reiterate the “pinch of salt” thoughts though.

It did some transpire the loanee was suffering the effects of an injury, which required treatment. Apparently, the knee problem has been troubling him for a year now, I would assume Pompey were aware of this when signing him?

Will Green be one of those higher league players who will struggle to adapt lower down? Thoughts some labelled the forward. Personally, I do feel it a bit harsh to judge or brand him just yet.

Obviously, Kenny Jackett brought him in for a reason and Aston Villa would want him playing. An injury is one of those things that will take it out of your hands. All being well his knee will fully heal in the next month – the time he’s anticipated to be sidelined – and Green will return and then show us the player he can be.

Yes, I feel Green will do well; he certainly shouldn’t have an opinion fully formed, good or bad, this early. However, the positive is Ronan Curtis is doing brilliantly and his link up with Jamal Lowe has clicked so well we’ll not miss Green as much… well, providing neither are sidelined!
