What a season?

Beating Liverpool on penalties to win the Premier League Asia Trophy. It wasn’t much but I was very pleased, especially as you could see some locals in the crowd with Pompey shirts and it did a little bit toward the heartache of Martin Kuhl and Co.

Winning 7-4 at home to Reading (my local team really, as an old Overton boy) A great day was had by us Devonshire supporters (Rug, Geoff, Daz & me that day) We laughed talked and sang all the way and down the coast.

Jermaine Defoe actually signs for Pompey.

Watching Diarra against Plymouth Argyle and the travelling up and down the coast road that day – tooting and banter with the Green Army.

Finishing in the highest position I have ever seen.

Watching the Man Utd cup game on the tele with Geoff, telling him “We’re gonna win the cup …. We’re gonna win the cup.”

My first ever trip to Wembley shortly followed by the second…… Martin Kuhl and Co.. the pain has gone now.

These are just some of the highs for me, what about yours?

  • what a season indeed – your highs are also the highs that i share, the 7-4 was incredible, what a creacking day it was all told the game was the perfect filling for the middle…
clearly winning the fa cup is one of the greatest things that has ever happened in my pompey supporting life but being at old trafford that day to see us beat manyoo was something else.

  • Great stuff Graham. Short and to the point. In my KMKY I said I wanted to win the FA Cup as my ultimate goal and now we have done it!! Enjoy your summer down in the south west and see you next season.

  • going up all the way to newcastle away, thinking to myself if we lose the way home is going to be so long. didnt have a clue we would turn out the best perfomance of the season, and the way home wasnt that long, even though we were stuck in carlisle for 2 hours and had to take a taxi from there to preston…

  • you get used to the long journeys back after defeat gleams… well thinking about it hopefully you will not as these are good times nowadays arent they… that said boro back was a long journey recently, as was citeh but with the fa cup in the board room all is now forgiven 🙂

  • What ever the future holds, we will always have this season. Nothing will erase the fantastic moments the 2007-08 has brought us die hard fans. Winning the FA Cup just tops the lot. Ironically I was in Malta for a family wedding when we won In Hong Kong & I fly out shortly for another. Wembley Pompey flag is packed. Catch you all later.

  • This season has been amazing, being 1st on Match of the Day (when we played reading!), My best mate Charlie Chimes wedding at fratton park (not football but a great day) and Winning the FA CUP!!!! the most highly regarded domestic knock out competition in the world….

Oh and how could i forget the chants of “theres only 1 Cheryl Tweedy” against Chelsea!!!!

  • I also enjoyed the thumbs up from blokes as i walked in the afternoon through plymouth city centre with my Pompey shirt on after we had beaten Manyoo

  • ooppss …presssd return by accident..yeh thanks Dave for your comments u 2 have a good summer

  • 7-4 & Steve Coppell said that made them look good. The away record, but the tops a childhood dream to win the FA cup at Wembley MAGIC.

  • Graham, it’s been a fantastic season, hasn’t it!! Thanks to ‘arry and all the staff, they/we have quite something to live up to next year!

  • one thing maybe to work on over te summer: fitness. i know this will sound very picky – but it was in the first half of the season that we got our fantastic away record, our fantastic wins against newcastle, reading, villa etc. in the second half, we just ground out results without PLAYING. (that said, our greatest achievments came in the second half – beating man u, winning the cup…but they were all built on the self beleif created in the first half of the season)
