We get to know a little more about blueballoo2000.

1 – Vital Pompey username?
blueballoo2000.

2 – Where do you come from/where do you currently live?
Born in St Marys Hospital, lived in Waterloo Street in Somerstown as a babe but moved around with my Dads job before settling back in Pompey, moving to Andover and now returning to Gosport.

3 – How long have you been a Vital Pompey member?
A few months. (Written mid February 2008.)

4 – What do you think of Vital Pompey? Be brutally honest!
Any forum is the sum of its members. Seems to have a pretty switched on bunch, gratifyingly free of trolls and obviously by Pompey fans and for Pompey fans – which is fine by me.

5 – How did you find out about Vital Pompey?
Various articles and references across the net.

6 – When did you first watch Pompey live – not on box unless this is the only way you have been able to see them? Not necessarily at Fortress Fratton though.
First game I can remember was March 1974, Pompey 0 Millwall 0. A very violent afternoon from my perspective in the North Stand. My great Uncles used to take us to a few games each season when staying at my Grandparents in North End. When we moved to the Isle of Wight in 82 my Brother and I started coming over every home game to stand on the Fratton End. All I can remember from the period before 1982 was that Pompey never seemed to score or win 🙂

7 – How often do you get to watch Pompey?
Season ticket holder in the North Stand Lower with my two eldest kids, been to about 70 odd grounds with Pompey and we do a few away each season, this season Arsenal, Wigan, Sunderland and Preston on Sunday.

8 – Who is your favourite Pompey Player – current and/or former?
Former, has to be Alan Biley for introducing me to the magic of football. I can still remember my Great-Uncle Ted putting his scarf on to go to the match and saying “they are making a fuss about this striker, he looks like a rock star apparently”. The Magic Man we used to call him, pure theatre. Currently, well how to choose? Diarra is the best player we have – a truly world class player. James is unbelievable. Niko is a wonderful footballer. Defoe? Distin should be playing for France.

9 – What is you favourite Pompey moment?
So many of them…….. “Biley’s poised again” – (whole stadium stops breathing) – “OH MY WORD…” Then there is the moment the final whistle blew at the demolition derby, the celebrations at Bradford when we stayed up, the Stockport game….. but the best pure moment for me was when they took the Championship trophy out of the press box and walked down the touchline with it to prepare it for presentation…… being sat there with my kids after all the years of disappointments and when everyone saw that trophy they just roared…….

10 – What are your realistic hopes for Pompey in the future?
Why realistic? When we were getting 7,000 I used to tell people we would be great again and would win the league. That is what Pompey is for me, always has been. When my Great Uncles would tell me about Scoular, Froggatt, Thunderboots Reid and Gentleman Jim and the championships I always knew we would be back up there again, one of the top clubs in the country. If I could hold on that belief when we were being thrashed at home by Port Vale, Crewe and Grimsby when it was a million miles off I am damned if I’m giving up on it now when we are able to match the best on even terms. This club will be great again, and not just as great as before – great forever. We’ve got a catchment area of 1.5m, no real competition, loads of affluent people in the suburbs and the passion of the City in it’s team, it’s a desirable area for players and we will build a stadium that can expand as much as we want it to. Everything is there and circumstances with the stadium have worked out beautifully for us. We are on the march and there is no stopping us. Pompey are back…….. let the world shake.
