Third signing close?

Having already added Wolves pair – Connor Ronan and Sylvain Deslandes – to the squad this week, Pompey are apparently ‘closing in on the signing’ of Oldham’s Craig Davies?

According to HITC Sport the Welsh international could soon be secured as Kenny Jackett looks for another forward to boost the Blues’ play off push, which wouldn’t go amiss following the decision to let Curtis Main leave for Motherwell – not that he’ll be missed too much, with all due respect.

Davies has produced the goods for Oldham in an otherwise struggling side, currently just above the relegation zone in League One, scoring nine goals in 24 games for the Latics so far this season.

He’s a decent footballer, one I guess I wouldn’t be opposed to Pompey signing, but my concerns would surround his fitness issues, as from what I know of Davies he has been known to suffer from regular injuries during his career…

Meanwhile, another forward could be on his way out of Fratton Park. Well, leaving for another loan spell anyway, as the News is this afternoon reporting Nicke Kabamba ‘has been lined up for another loan’ away from the Blues?

His previous stint with Colchester didn’t provide the results we would have hoped as the former Hampton & Richmond man struggled for first team football at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

I wouldn’t have thought Kabamba would play much of a part during the second half of the season so another loan makes sense – he could use this to prove he’s worthy of a new deal when his current contract ends in the summer.
