Welcome to the Pompey Chimes – the definitive guide to the past week in the world of Pompey. Not a lot of news this week, but plenty for Vital Members to stick their teeth into!

Club News

First of all, news on that takeover thing that’s apparently involving our club! For the latest news on what’s happening, click here. For information that the period of “Due Diligence” is complete, click here.

Moving on to other matters, it appears that caretaker manager Paul Hart will remain in charge for the foreseeable future. Hardly surprising, but if you want more information please click here.

For latest on the manager/player situation in light of the takeover, click here.

Sky have released their schedules, and to find out when your beloved Portsmouth are on the box this season, click here.

The Birmingham game has unfortunately been moved to accommodate other games being shown on TV. Read about the latest news involving that fixture here.

Squad News

First off, we have early reports that both Lauren and Crouch are moving on to other clubs. Lauren is said to be going to Hull City, and Crouch off to anyone! Read all about that here.

Rug has written a fantastic article about young Matty Ritchie, which is well worth a read. Click here to read about the young player who is tipped to have a great career with Portsmouth.

One name that keeps being linked to Pompey is Fernando Belluschi. The player has been linked with us for some time and does look to be quite a decent prospect, however reports linking him to Porto have emerged this week, despite conflicting reports soon after. Click the blue writing to read more.

Kagiso Dikgacoi. No, I did not just sneeze, Mr D is a South African player linking himself with the club. To read more about that, click here. There are also some bits on Crouch and Marc-Antoine fortune (who has since signed for Celtic).

Peter Crouch is becoming ever popular in the transfer news, as he is now down as being ‘available’. Read more here.

Pompey favourite Benjani is looking for a move back to the South Coast after saying he would welcome it. I’m sure we would all welcome him back too, so click here to read more.

David James – remember him? Well he’s now not injured! Click here for the lowdown.

Vital Pompey News

PompeyFrippy has written a fantastic piece on his highs/lows of being a Pompey fan which is well worth a read – you can find it by clicking here.

Important news now, as there is a Vital Pompey get-together this very Saturday 11th June 2009 to celebrate Hermann Hreidarsson’s birthday. There is no WAY that I’m missing this, and I implore you all to go too, no less because Pompeygray is joining us all the way from AUSTRALIA. If he can come from that far away, then you really do have no excuse to miss out. Click here to RSVP, and for further details.

Fancy yourself as a bit of a Pompey brainbox? Well, resident Vital Pompey Einstein’s Chix and Dave are challenging you! They are printing four quizzes, which we are all allowed to answer. Prizes are up for grabs if you get the most points, and there are bonus points if you manage to stump them with a question they can’t answer. So come on, let’s bring them down a peg or two!! For game rules and the first quiz, click here. Also don’t forget to check the forums for Chix’s 15 Question Guess Who game!

Many polls went on this week, click the blue text below to see the results:

Younes Kaboul should be our star central defender.
Mancini will be our next manager.
David James and Hermann Hreidarsson should be Pompey’s starting keeper and left-back respectively next season.
Finally, that Pompey are going to get RELEGATED. Quite frankly that one absolutely beggars belief and I can only assume some Southampton fans figured out how to use a computer!

Have you signed the petition to save the Pompey commentary on The Quay yet? If you haven’t get on and do it RIGHT NOW. Click here.

Gino’s Fact of the Week

Has the European Cup ever been to Fratton Park? It certainly has; in 1982 when Aston Villa won it, it was paraded around the ground prior to Alex Cropley’s testimonial game.

Gino’s Teaser
Last week’s winner:

CHIX!

He correctly identified that Jody Morris scored the last Premiership goal of the 20th Century, and he currently plays for St Johnstone.

No teaser this week – your brains are going to frazzled enough with Chix and Dave poking at your grey matter. See you all next week!
