The end is nigh for Matty Taylor…

Matty Taylor is a huge crowd favourite with Pompey – he is most certainly one of my favourites – but I think most of us would concede that the writing is on the wall for him now and it is looking more likely than not that he will leave, probably in January…

Indeed over the weekend there had been more speculation that other premier league clubs were looking at him, with Reading reported as being prepared to cough up £5m, with West Ham, Fulham and Boro also said to be in the queue. Spurs are long term admirers, so if he is available they could come in again, with Villa and Everton also linked in the past.

I would love Taylor to stay, but he is too good to sit on the bench, as I feel if he gets a run in any side then he is good enough to play for England, but from the looks of the direction we are taking it is going to be increasingly hard for him to feature for us.

After seeing Noe Pamarot against Blackburn in the league cup, coupled with Taylor’s 2nd half showing as his replacement he looked nailed on to start against Newcastle last weekend but Harry Redknapp stuck with Pamarot – with him being completed vindicated with his decision.

For whatever reason he just cannot get into the side, even when there appears a chance for him, but with Niko Kranjcar being absolutely fantastic in his roaming role, which starts on the left, Sulley Muntari then next in line to go out on the left and Pamarot seemingly the preferred left back when Hermann Hreidarsson is out it does not look good does it fellas.

To be honest I have now basically adopted the attitude that Redknapp has a vision and he knows what direction we are heading in and what this direction means in terms of players, so as much as I would want Taylor to stay if Redknapp decides it is time for him to go I will reluctantly accept this, but it will be a very, very sad day if/when it happens…
