Real footballs back with Pompey

Now that we have got the latest international break out of the way and with it England’s failure to qualify for Euro 2008 – what a long summer this will be! – the real business of club football with Pompey returns this weekend – thankfully.

This has been the moment that I have been waiting for and looking forward to ever since the 0-0 draw with City in our last outing – and I am sure I am not alone in that thinking…

We travel to struggling Birmingham not only looking to keep our impressive away run going, but our impressive run going full stop, but there is more, we go into this game at St Andrews chasing a new club record.

Should we avoid defeat we would set a new premier league record for games unbeaten.

Currently we have equalled our previous record of 8 unbeaten, set during our first season back in the top flight in the 2003/04 season – a run that saw us to safety and a run that also included a win over Birmingham, but this came at the Fortress.

18 points from the last 24 available tends to suggest that we should avoid defeat but we will not take anything for granted, however I would be bitterly disappointed if we came away with anything less than a point, to be honest though I do feel we will win anyway – make your own predictions in the Pompey predictions league here.
