Pompey’s new manager lined up?

Not for the first time the name Vahid Halilhodzic has been spoken about as a ‘serious option’ for the Pompey job…

It is claimed that ‘Pompey officials’ have been in discussions with the Ivory Coast manager for the past 4-weeks or so, which was about the time this first broke out of the blue, with it now ‘claimed’ that he will be unveiled as our next manager sometime soon?

I do not know much about the bloke to be honest – not that this means he is a bad manager, his track record seems decent enough on the club and international scene, but it would still be ‘a surprise’ if we did bring him in I must say.

That said a surprise name would not exactly be a surprise in many ways as a good number of us have started to think that it may well be an outsider that comes in?

Still, I think that I would prefer someone that we actually knew of, and had some form of knowledge of the English game to be honest – despite his experience the English game is not something that the Bosnian has experienced before…

Pompey have a lot of connections in France, so this is possible, and it is said that this could be a genuine option. I am being told that ‘French clubs that had been sounding him out as a possible manager have dropped out of the running,’ if that means anything?

We are refusing to comment on these reports, but does that mean anything? Previously we have ruled things out, but we have neither ruled Halilhodzic in or out this time, again, if that means anything?

Yep, certainly a strange option and most definitely a surprise if it come off – but will it came off? Time will tell I guess…
