Pompey talk with PFCMatt

We can now see what PFCMatt had to say when asked a few questions about Pompey, the season just gone and the one ahead along with the ‘possible’ future ahead.

Vital Pompey has previously brought you the ‘knowing me knowing you series’ – which is still running, so others will be added and if you want to do one just email – and we had the ‘talking Pompey with’ series last summer, this now returns under a new name and some fresh questions as ‘Pompey talk with’…

PFCMatt was asked 6 questions about the 2008/09 season and what the hopes are for the 2009/10, one and indeed our future, is.

This is what they said…

  • So, sum up the 2008/09 season in 3 words?
A huge disappointment. I’m still not completely over it if I’m honest.

  • Suddenly things seem ‘a lot brighter’ for Pompey with Dr SAF taking over – what are your hopes/aspirations under the new ownership? Assuming everything goes through!
If everything goes through then happy days are here again! Nah, I’m a Pompey fan which means I’m always racked with little doubts and have learnt to embrace disappointment. I’m fairly sick of saying this but I would like to see some sign of building work at the site of the proposed new training ground. The out-of-contract players futures sorted out. Some quality additions made to the squad, that’ll do for a start.

  • Which players – that we could realistically sign – would you like to see arrive this summer?
If I’m honest I haven’t even thought that far ahead, but if the takeover goes ahead I can see most of the new players coming in from abroad. Injuries and wages aside, Michael Owen could be worth a punt.

  • If you had to select 1 player to ‘sell’ or ‘release’ this summer who would it be and why?
Utaka without a shadow of a doubt, obvious I know. Paid £7-8m for someone who’s had 2 good games for us in 2 years, that says it all really.

  • What are you hoping for from Pompey in the 2009/10 season?
I’d settle for a season of no drama please, it would be nice to be safe by Xmas, anything else would be a bonus really.

  • How many Pompey games do you expect to make during that season?
I’ll be at all the home games and I would like to go to more away games next season, I’d like to go somewhere like Anfield a ground I’ve never been to before.

Thanks to PFCMatt for answering these.

    PLAY UP POMPEY!
