The ‘Harry Redknapp to Newcastle talk’ rumbled on all day yesterday, although he still refused to completely rule out the post Pompey did release a statement revealing that no approach has been made, nor would they welcome one – it read: ‘we take it as a compliment that our players and personnel are often linked with some of the top clubs in this country, and indeed abroad.

‘It is testimony to the quality of their work.

‘However, we do feel it necessary to correct some of the inaccuracies in reports that have surfaced today.

‘The club has received no approach for the services of our valued manager Harry Redknapp. He remains as committed as ever to this football club and he recently signed a new, improved four-year contract with Portsmouth’.

No official approach has been made, although it is said that this will come in the next 24 hours?

Everything seems to point towards him staying, but that nagging feeling in my mind that ‘maybe’ he will go just will not leave me…

His reluctance to rule the post out concerns me the most, and once again he refused to do this when quizzed by BBC Radio Solent. When asked ‘if he was interested in taking over at Newcastle’ he answered by saying that it was ‘a hypothetical question’.

Come on Harry if you are interested in the job lets be honest about it, if not just come out and categorically say you do not want the job! That way this speculation will end once and for all.
