22/11/1982: Yakubu Ayegbeni
Happy birthday to Russell Hoult and Yakubu – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.
Hoult did a decent enough job in goal for Pompey – his time with the Blues didn’t end that well though, which often goes against him when people recall his spell at Fratton Park.
Feed the Yak and he will score, absolutely true for Pompey wasn’t it. Lazy? Possibly, but Yakubu was a great goalscorer for us.

I have three games today, which have brought a win, defeat and a draw.
The victory came over Mansfield at Fratton Park in 2014, I was also at the Britannia Stadium for a defeat against Stoke in 2009 – I am fairly sure Ricardo Fuller got the winner after Kevin-Prince Boateng had missed a penalty?
My final game was a draw with Hull at Fratton in 2008, this was the game when Glen Johnson scored ‘that goal’ – a stunning half volley with his left boot, what a goal.
