Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

23/11/1979: Anthony Fenton

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Anthony Fenton – the Pompey player from the Blues’ past born on this day.

I am pretty sure Fenton was one of two brothers that started out at Manchester City? Seem to recall we we first looked at him in a testimonial I for Gordon Neave. However, I cannot recall much about him – a defender I think – though.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 14
Won – 4
Drawn – 3
Lost – 7

This is a day I again recall a good few games from the past but can claim only the one – this was a defeat to Scunthorpe at Fratton Park in 2013 when Jody Craddock scored one of his few goals for us as the Blues suffered defeat.

What are your memories of Fenton from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

  • Went to Villa in 74 plus Shots, Sheff U and Scunny. I think Rug you are confusing Fenton with Ron and Paul Futcher.

  • 13,85&76….13 saw Craddock’s only goal (in the Milton End)…76 great win in the cup & Fenton was a left back & only played once as a sub

  • There in 85 when we got smacked 3-0 by a good Sheff Utd. Remember 02 when our game was live on sky on Saturday evening. Was away on a work do but able to sneak out on watch most of it.
