…but Jamie’s Dad insists he is going back…
Jamie O’Hara, who I thought had a really good game against Bolton but was less effective – although by no means poor – against Villa, is expected, according to what Jamie’s Dad told The News of the World, to return to Spurs in January.
He says that Spurs ‘will definitely get Jamie back as soon as we can. I like Jamie as a player and I didn’t want him to go but Portsmouth insisted on it as part of the deal to sell Kevin Prince Boateng to them so we had no choice.’
Peter Storrie has ‘said’ that we have the option to extend in January and I would be amazed, if this is actually the case, if we did not – and would also be equally amazed if he O’Hara did not want to stay, as why go back to Spurs and not play?
Playing is what he wants to do and this is what he will have the chance to do here this season.
Despite what Jamie’s Dad says, so long as we stay up and we could afford him I would not rule out signing him permanently – again, if he is playing regular football he will become accustomed to this, Spurs have plenty of players ahead of him and I have little doubt that they will sign more in January and next summer so I cannot see him returning to Spurs for good.
I am sure he will move on, if not here permanently then it will be to someone else…
As for O’Hara himself, speaking to pfcTV he had nothing but praise for the Pompey fans at Villa Park: ‘the Pompey fans were unbelievable. We’re 2-0 down and you look up and they’re still singing and dancing. It’s great to have that support.’
The support
It was fantastic yesterday, literally everyone stood for the entire 1st half offering great support – the 2nd half started with us understandably ‘subdued’ for a while but it was a good 30-minutes of constant ‘Great Escape’ clapping and stamping which I could visible see was something that the Villa stewards were amazed by!
A team 2-0 down, looking defeat and quite possibly relegation square in the face we just kept going – one female steward was loving it, you could see her bobbing along, nodding her head and tapping her feet, I half expected her to start clapping along.
Like I say, not his best game but few – on either side – really stood out, but he ‘should’ still prove an important player for us in the short-term, and ‘could’ quite possibly prove this even the longer-time, despite what Jamie’s Dad claims…
