Hart and Brown on Villa defeat

6 games 6 defeats – we have the ‘unwanted record’ of officially making the worst start to a premier league season ever!

This is what Paul Hart, talking to sky sports, and Michael Brown both had to say about the Villa defeat – with my own thoughts included too…

He was left ‘frustrated’ by the defensive mistakes that once again costs us, and what they hell Nadir Belhadj and Tal Ben-Haim were thinking for both goals only they know!

Hart also thought there was ‘little between the sides before the goal’ – something I think was fair to be honest. He also continues to believe that we can stay up but making ‘schoolboy errors will make this tough’.

See Hart’s views on this, and more, in this video below…

Michael Brown, when speaking to pfcTV, basically echoed Hart’s thoughts – errors cost us, and they will continue to if we keep doing it.

We will ‘keep going and stay together’ though, which I would hope so: ‘we’ve got to keep going and stay together. We’ll keep trying and working and we’ll get some points.

‘It’s very frustrating – we gave the game away. We were set up right and the boss played a good card with his system.

‘But we gave away silly goals and we can’t keep doing that.’

I thought that Brown has a good game I must say, and he would probably be my man of the match – he has the ‘never say die’ attitude of a Sean Davis, but for me – and surprisingly so to be honest – is much more skilful and technically able than I thought he would be, certainly than I remember him as a younger player for us, so that certainly give him the edge over Davis.

For me, when going for that Aaron Mokoena type player if it was a decision between Brown and Mokoena who gets in when Papa Bouba Diop is fit then it is the current captain that would miss out…

Rug’s final thoughts…

I think it is probably fair to say that there was not a lot between the sides up until the goal, but if that did not pretty much kill us off the 2nd goal most certainly did – yep we battled in the 2nd half, but you would expect this, but at the end of the day the job was done for Villa in the 1st half so they ‘took their foot off the gas’ didn’t they?

We never look like scoring, and for whatever reason Hart never looked like changing it until that 75th minute rolled round – almost as if ‘premeditated’ and ‘that was the time’ he was always changing… I back those in charge but it is becoming harder and harder, and more demoralising.

Although I feel for him, no matter what his faults are and what we blame him for, but you cannot account for the mistakes that people make – that cannot be his fault as he is not the one out on the pitch playing. That said I still think that we are good enough to stay up, but I am struggling to believe that Hart can be the man to do this… although I hope I am wrong, and want to be wrong as I do not want to see another manager ‘sacked’, but Everton surely has to be the game that decides his fate…
