We get to know a little more about storagematt.

1 – Vital Pompey username?
Storagematt. My name is obviously Matt & I have been working in the self-storage industry for 8 years, it’s a polite way of separating myself from any other Matt out there. I also use it on ebay where I sell my unique Pompey car windscreen blinds. Anybody seen them?

2 – Where do you come from/where do you currently live?
Born & bred in Pompey, Baffins Pond area but married a scummer & have lived in Totton for the last 15 years. Pompey is always home but I’d need an expensive & painful divorce to come back.

3 – How long have you been a Vital Pompey member?
I joined in August 2006.

4 – What do you think of Vital Pompey? Be brutally honest!
I think it’s great; it has grown & is growing. Though I read bits from other Pompey sites, Vital is the only one I contribute to.

5 – How did you find out about Vital Pompey?
I saw the site via newsnow.

6 – When did you first watch Pompey live – not on box unless this is the only way you have been able to see them? Not necessarily at Fortress Fratton though.
My dad took me & my younger brother about 1974/75. I think it was Sheff Wed in the old Div 2. Dark days as we plummeted down the leagues to Div 4.

7 – How often do you get to watch Pompey?
I rarely miss a home match. My life is planned around the fixture list, family, work, holidays, everything. I’ve had a season ticket since 1991, it’s my religion. Since 1985 I’ve probably missed no more than a dozen home games. I don’t do that many away games as I used to but try to get to at least 1 a year. Living & working in scum, my Pompeyness is suppressed, so getting back home to Pompey & the football is of massive importance.

8 – Who is your favourite Pompey Player – current and/or former?
I’ve never been one for a favourite/hero player because I’ve been so much for the team as a whole. Players who do stick out over the last 20 years are: Neil Webb, Alan Biley, Mark Hateley, Mickey Quinn, Mick Kennedy, Martin Kuhl, Guy Whittingham, Paul Walsh, Paul Merson, Teddy & Toddy. They all made a difference. The current squad is mind blowing to what we were used to & money aside it is Harry Redknapp that has made the biggest difference to Pompey, not sure where we would be without him. Don’t under estimate his power to attract the quality players we have.

9 – What is you favourite Pompey moment?
All the promotions. I remember running on the pitch at Northampton when we finished 4th to get out of Div 4. When was that 1979? The promotion with Alan Ball to Div 1 & being at the Dell when we stuffed the scum 2-0. The promotion with HR to the Prem. The relief of staying up after the win at Wigan. Stuffing scum 4-1 & being at WBA to hear they got relegated, to name a few.

10 – What are your realistic hopes for Pompey in the future?
A top ground, one to be proud of. To be as close to the so-called big 4 as possible. Win an English trophy/cup & qualify for Europe. I want them all.
