We get to know a little more about Lemmi.

1 – Vital Pompey username?
Lemmi – a long story involving mythical characters and cats!

2 – Where do you come from/where do you currently live?
I was born in Liverpool in 1961 and lived there and in Lancashire until I went to university in Birmingham. Moved to Waterlooville in 1984 and have lived in the same house in Cowplain since 1987.

3 – How long have you been a Vital Pompey member?
Since February 2009 (Written in April 2009)

4 – What do you think of Vital Pompey? Be brutally honest!
I really like the site, good well researched and well written articles and intelligent forum discussions.

5 – How did you find out about Vital Pompey?
Via Google. Tried a couple of other sites but never registered as they really do not appeal.

6 – When did you first watch Pompey live – not on box unless this is the only way you have been able to see them? Not necessarily at Fortress Fratton though.
That would be not long after I moved down here, FA Cup third round against Blackburn in 1985, a bloody awful 0-0 draw if I remember correctly. Froze to death as I recall. I also went to a night match but can’t remember which. Only saw a couple more games as I was playing rugby for Havant. After a couple of years I changed jobs, which meant I was away from home most of the time. I did see one game live on the telly, the FA Cup 4th round game against Leeds, most disappointing. I watched that one from my hotel room in Turku, Finland. Went out and had a serious session after that.

7 – How often do you get to watch Pompey?
After a couple of motorbike accidents put paid to my rugby ‘career’ (in the 4ths) I started going again about 2 or 3 seasons ago with my wife, she’s Pompey born and bred and an avid fan. We get to as many games as possible, finances and shift pattern allowing, we even managed Stoke away this season.

8 – Who is your favourite Pompey Player – current and/or former?
Difficult choice really, present player would be Glen Johnson or Hermann, though I really like ‘Ted’ Nugent if only they’d play him up front.

Former players, Matt Taylor and Benjani, I never really saw any of the great players of earlier eras so I’ll stick with those I’ve seen.

9 – What is you favourite Pompey moment?
Obviously the AC Milan game was one but I think the best moment was on Semi Final day last year. I was working a night shift the day before so I went up to work in London by train. I finished at 6 am and went across to Waterloo to meet my wife who was catching one of the first trains up. Standing there watching the arrivals board to see when it was due in I suddenly heard this spontaneous chanting of ‘Blue Army’ reverberating around the station. The concourse just stopped in it’s tracks and then thousands of Pompey fans came through the gates. I met up with Michelle and she said it had been unbelievable on the train. An unforgettable moment.

10 – What are your realistic hopes for Pompey in the future?
To rebuild Fratton Park and stay there, I know it’s inconvenient with the traffic but too many clubs have uprooted and gone to soulless new stadia. It’s also handy as my mother-in-law lives near and we can park in her drive.

In the immediate future staying in the Premiership. Short term find a buyer! For the long term I think we have to develop the youth team and that’s where Paul Hart’s strength is.

I noticed Chix said he wished he’d put a bet on winning the cup in 2008. I knew they were going to a least get to the final as one of my work colleagues asked me in December 2007 to swap some shifts in May as he was going sailing so he said he’d do my night shifts on a Friday, Saturday Sunday if I did his earlier in the week. When I checked it was Cup Final weekend and at that moment I just knew.

That’s it really, I know I could be branded a JCL but I have been watching football from the terraces since I was kid, including 4th division games at Southport. I did fall out of love with football for about 20 years but I’m back now and enjoy it all the more.
