After months of negotiating The News have broke the news that claims an agreement with Kanu has finally been arranged that will see him stay at Fratton for at least another 12 months.

He is said to have returned to training today and will put pen to paper on the new contract later this afternoon, tomorrow at the latest.

The most recent stumbling block appeared to be the number of games required for a further year after this to have been activated. Pompey wanted him to take part in 20 matches, Kanu wanted less – accounting for possible injuries and his participation in the African Nations. Either way, an agreement has been reached between Peter Storrie and the Nigerian’s representatives.

It is about time this was concluded, now he can get back to training properly and ideally even getting some sort of run out in Saturday’s final pre season friendly against Leicester?
