Gareth Southgate has insisted more than once that Yakubu ‘is happy’ with Boro and ‘will not be going anywhere’, yet he is often quite heavily linked with Pompey and others, most recently a big money move to Man City – but West Ham are said to be buzzing about too.

The Northern Echo is today saying that Pompey is preparing to return – again – with another bid for their former striker, with Sean Davis possibly offered in a cash plus player deal, something that had been rumoured previously – but Boro would still apparently prefer Gary O’Neil.

Davis moving away from Pompey is not something that will surprise too many people, as more than a few are prepared for this, if not expecting it with the amount of midfielders we now have, which puts his place severely under threat – and the Mirror today claims that Boro and Fulham are going ‘head to head’ in a battle to sign him.

Harry Redknapp is an admirer of Yakubu’s, we all know this – and he has also made no secret of the fact he wants another striker. Davis will most likely move on during this – even though he currently injured – or the January transfer window, so there is a possibility of this actually happening.

Depending on what sort of money is wanted from Boro my thinking is this could still have some real potential, despite it currently being nothing more than media speculation – what is the thinking fellas?
