Double boost for Pompey

We have been handed a potential double boost ahead of the FA cup game with Preston this weekend, as Sylvain Distin and Dave Nugent are both looking as if they will be fit and available to start.

Distin has missed the last couple of games with a hamstring problem, while Nugent had undergone a hernia operation after the win over Plymouth, but just a few weeks later – by the time the game arrives – he is looking as though he will be fit to start against his former side.

Harry Redknapp is already hinting that cup specialist Nugent could start this game, either way with Jermain Defoe cup tied it is highly likely that he could be needed to play some part.

The enigma that is John Utaka has also revealed that he is relishing the challenge that he is facing to get back in the side – so hopefully this will see him hungry to take a chance should it arise, and in all fairness he did seem up for it when he came on at the weekend.
