The move from Pompey to AEK Athens for Papa Bouba Diop has been completed, with a compromise finally agreed with the Greek side.

Pompey wanted £1m, which actually turns out it was £1m euros – about £800,000, but AEK wanted him on a free…

An undisclosed fee, which The News says was £250,000, was eventually agreed so the midfielder has gone.

I think it would be fair, and not unfair – sorry Papa – to say that few will miss him as lets face it we rarely got the quality of performance from him that we would have expected, having seen what he had offered Fulham over the years before us.

That said to be fair I think, well was told, that he was continuing to play with injuries last season, so this was not helping him, or us…

We needed to get him off the wage bill, and whilst £250,000 is little in all honesty, when you think of the number of weeks we had, and could still, have paid him for doing nothing the longer this move dragged on and did not happen the more he cost – doing literally nothing – so the less we actually got anyway!

John Utaka is also ‘said’ to be close to joining him in leaving – once again getting him off the wage bill is a must, especially seen as he has had his summer break extended, which will see him paid, until we return from America after his world cup ‘excursions’…

Another that we know will leave, and always was – hopefully for good money, it is just a matter of who to, is Kevin-Prince Boateng. Liverpool are now ‘said’ to be interested.
