Cisak back at Pompey

Alex Cisak has often been a name the fans have offered up as an option Pompey could turn to in search of a goalkeeper.

Familiar with Pompey from a brief loan from Oldham, cut short when the Latics recalled him, Cisak, previously of Burnley and Leicester, has frustrated the Blues when he played for Leyton Orient.

However, the Australian is now a free agent having left Orient following their relegation from the Football League.

It had been reported by HITC Sport Cisak, 28, is in fact training with Pompey at the moment ahead of a potential return to Fratton Park.

An odd thing for me is the fact it was also claimed a ‘number of other League One, Major League Soccer and Australian sides are also weighing up a move.’ If that were the case would Cisak really feel the need to have a trial?

That’s putting aside the fact Luke McGee is ‘expected’ to join Pompey, would the Blues add the Tottenham keeper and Cisak when we already have Alex Bass on our book? Apparently Kenny Jackett would as is keen to add a couple of shot-stoppers to the squad.

Cisak an arrival at Fratton? Admittedly, Yes please but Cisak, McGee and Bass? I’m not sure we need all three and if we did where would that leave Bass’ long-term future, well, besides the likely conclusion it’ll be away from the Park?

No, I wasn’t convinced.

Rightly so as according to the News this morning, Cisak’s presence at Roko was merely to ‘keep him fit’ as he looks for a new club – it’ll not result in a deal at Fratton.

However, McGee will be confirmed today, apparently.
