Harry Redknapp has said that he would like to sign more English talent this summer, but as the best home grown talent can be so expensive it can be difficult as he said.

I think it is fair to say that although there is not as much of a shortage as people might be led to believe, the amount that are of a genuine quality that would improve us at a price that would be affordable is hard – do not get me wrong we are short of quality English players these days, it is as said the over inflated price tag that goes with them.

Peter Crouch is one name that is constantly linked with us, so it would not surprise me if he returned this summer as I do think he will leave Liverpool. I am not a fan but Jermaine Pennant could also be a possibility, as could Shaun Wright Phillips but I dare say their prices will be fairly high, maybe too high…

All being well I believe that in the coming years we have a chance of having more British, if not English talent coming through as the Academy side seem to be producing some quality – so as long as they carry on progressing as they are at an early age I do not think we will have a shortage in the future.

In the short term I do not think we will get that many Englishmen arriving this summer, but in the years to come I think we will have our fair share – although in all fairness we are not without a good amount of English talent within our squad as it is are we really…
