A frantic day ahead…

Pompey up for sale, players are being linked with moves away, others with moves here – I think despite all the ‘hush talk’ there is a lot of frantic activity going on behind the scenes at Portsmouth Football Club and we could yet see some movement both way – my early worry is that we might not like what is going out…

Where do I begin?

Well the takeover talk seems genuine enough now – and it would appear that someone, or a group of people will be taking over from Sacha Gaydamak in the not to distant future as he does seem as though he is willing to sell up and move on to pastures new.

Whoever it is, the thought is they have ‘plenty’ of money available for mass strengthening of the team – without the needed sales to go with it – and funds to make the plans for a stadium and so on possible, provided we get the planning permission?

Now on to transfer talk for today – so far…

Man City appear to be very keen on Benjani by all accounts, and have approached. The fear is – and the information that I have – that he could be sold, as he might well need to be to fund other moves!

Another thought is that almost incredibly Harry Redknapp would let Benjani leave, as he ‘might’ have to in order to fund a move for Jonas Gutierrez or – another link that has resurfaced today – he will have to sell him to make a last ditch bid for Jermain Defoe.

If Benjani was allowed to leave in order for either to come to Pompey it would be complete and utter madness, and I would say that if he were sold he would be the one that could be ‘the straw that broke the camels back’ in relation to those ‘fans favourites’ that have been sold over the months…

Another suggestion is that Lauren plus £5m in cash have, or even will be offered to Real Mallorca for Gutierrez – but that cash could also come from selling Benjani?

The ‘frightening talk’ is that all deals that ‘might happen’ today seemingly hinge on us being willing to part with Benjani – we may as well kiss goodbye to this season if we did in my opinion no matter who arrived…

Who knows what will happen today, but hold on tight it could be another turbulent day ahead for Portsmouth Football Club and us – the fans!
