What does the future hold for…Halford?

There can be few clubs with such a history of squad rotation as Pompey.

This summer, as with the past 2-3, I would suspect that ‘most’ will be wondering where their future lies.

Although unlike some other years some players under contract at least ‘should’ have a better chance of remaining where they are, as long as this is what they want!

If this is what they want, and it is a financially viable option for us, lets hope this is what they get…

To be fair most of the loanees have done well, but ‘bicycle’ has to be the most successful one, right?

When he came in I was not convinced that he was anything other than a full back – and was that really needed? – but he has grown into a decent central defender. I am not sure that this is a long-term position for him though.

For a loanee to say that they want to stay is always encouraging, so for him to have done this means that we are part of the way towards where we need to be.

I do ‘suspect’ that others will show an interest and with Wolves looking for, I would guess, around £1m at least I find it hard to think that we can match such a fee so I am not holding out much hope we will sign him.

Somehow convincing Wolves to do a player swap, for Aaron Mokoena, represents our best hope of keeping him I reckon, so at this point I reckon his future lies away from Fratton…
