We really are down to the bare bones!

Harry Redknapp’s favourite phrase with Pompey, and now at Spurs, is ‘I am down to the bare bones’ – well if Tony Adams really is not down to the bare bones now then I do not know what is.

With Lassana Diarra sold, Papa Bouba Diop and Richard Hughes injured a stomach bug for Sean Davis was the last thing that we needed with the FA cup game with Bristol City coming up tomorrow. We are now literally down to Arnold Mvuemba as our last recognised, and fit central midfielder now – bare bones? That really is the bloody bare bones!

Marc Wilson will almost certainly move in alongside Mvuemba, although this is not an area I like the youngster in – that said he looks very comfortable on the ball. Younes Kaboul ‘could’ come in as a makeshift holding midfielder, but he would quite literally be a sweeper type. Perhaps Niko Kranjcar will play in his free role?

Fortune favours the brave, so I would be tempted by the latter and put Armand Traore on the left, using this area with Nadir Belhadj as the one to really go for the jugular with – put Glen Little on the right perhaps to get that delivery spot on, even though we lose Dave Nugent’s work rate, I cannot say quality though to be honest…

Injury might have ended my career, but as much as my fitness will be a major problem as much as anything else I might take my boots with me tomorrow night and offer my services if need be! Tomorrow is going to be a real, real test for us – come on lets do it!
