Harry Redknapp has echoed the opinion that the vast majority of us have on this very site by what he has told the Pompey site today – in as much that he would be astounded if David James not only missed out on the no.1 spot for England against Croatia tomorrow, but missed out to Scott Carson: ‘It’s a massive shock really because David James has fallen out of the picture and I can’t see what he’s done wrong.

‘He’s the best goalkeeper in the country and a different class, so I find it a bit of a strange one to be honest.

‘Don’t get me wrong Scott Carson is a good keeper. But he couldn’t get in the Liverpool team and they’ve let him go out on loan again’.

Even without James in goal Redknapp not only believes that England will go on to get the point – at least – that we need, but could also go on and win Euro 2008!

I am livid – and have been for several days – at the thought that James looks likely to not only miss out on the no.1 spot again, but looks like missing out to Carson who seems to have suddenly crept up from no.3 to no.1 with James now appearing to be below both Carson and Paul Robinson.

If James is overlooked again, and not even named on the bench I would love him to tell Spineless Steve were to stick it and the next time he comes squirming back remind him that he made his bed so he must now lie in it…

Anyway, enough on this, it will soon be Saturday and we know what that means – the most important thing, Pompey are back in action.
