Time for the transfer ban to end?

Today ‘could’ be the day that Pompey’s transfer embargo is lifted?

At least this is what Ahmed Al Faraj, the brother of owner Ali Al Faraj, believes should happen today after he, along with lawyer Maurice Watkins and Yoram Yossifoff, meets with premier chairman Dave Richards and chief exec Richard Scudamore.

Ahmed Al Faraj, ironically after all the business with The Sun last summer, was speaking to them to say that he feels that in the ‘fairness of an even playing field’ this embargo should be lifted as there is ‘no argument’ for this to remain in place: ‘this ban must be lifted now. There is no argument for it to go on.

‘With the TV money coming in we will have paid all our debts to other clubs and it is vital that Portsmouth are allowed to compete on a level playing field with everyone else.

‘We need new players in and if we can get the ones our manager wants, we are confident we will stay in the Premier League.

‘A lot of money is being put into this club to turn things around. We are probably one of the only clubs in the world which doesn’t owe a penny to any bank.’

We might not owe to a bank but we owe to various others… Anyway, he ‘claims’ that after this £7m from the latest TV money comes through, after paying off what we have to we will have a ‘surplus’ so this is his basis for the embargo being lifted?

He also again contested this VAT bill that we have: ‘we do not accept we owe the revenue anything and will be asking for the winding- up order to be set aside while we contest it.’

As for this issue, as I have NO idea of what is true or false I could not comment, so I will not!

So, today ‘could’ be an interesting day for Pompey, we ‘might’ find our transfer embargo lifted, which would be a further move in the right direction, right?
