THAT is why we do it!

On the way up to Bolton today we, Ken, Richie, Tim and myself were talking about the thought of thinking ‘why we bother’ at times?

Of course it is in the blood. We cannot, or would not, change it – so that is why we do it really.

Even so I think it is understandable for people to something think ‘do I really want to make the long trek to Bolton (or the like)?’ Even more so perhaps for some at times, ‘do I really want to do these types of trip alone?’ – As can be the case…

All in all though the common thought, and theme was – as much as it is the fact it is out team – you fear you will miss ‘one of those games’ or ‘a game that involves one of ‘those’ moments.’

In many ways that is what we saw in the 2-2 draw with Bolton on Saturday…

2-0 down, and dead and buried at half time seemingly, we manage to come back and get a draw – we could, maybe should have won in the end!

Talking to another guy after the game he said ‘you going straight home now then?’ I said we were, to which he said it was a ‘long journey’ for us to make, which it is, but my answer was ‘it is always worth it isn’t it!’ Of course he agreed and we agreed we would not change it.

To come back and draw made this a special game but the atmosphere, and noise, that some 200 or so of us made was phenomenal, so to be a part of that was special.

The most special part of it all was to see so many Bolton fans wait behind at the end to applaud us, the stewards saying how much Pompey would be missed and best of all a group of Bolton lads waiting at our exit to applaud us, shake hands, and wish us luck and so on – sadly I have to say the Bolton fans, during the game, were incredibly quiet and our small numbers certainly showed them up. Then again we have before, and will again, show up bigger and better teams, who have greater numbers as we are Portsmouth Football Club…
