Stoke looking to emulate Pompey!

Ex Pompey defender Andy Griffin believes that if Stoke are to establish themselves as a Premiership side, then they have to look to the likes of Pompey.

He is quoted on Sky sports as saying that Stoke are in exactly the same position as Pompey when we were promoted.

He believes that Stoke need to buy in 3 or 4 class players with experience to help them survive. Personally I believe it takes more than just the players; it takes a positive game plan, good coaching and backroom staff.

A fervent crowd goes a long way, as does a Chairman not afraid to back his club.

Griffin mentioned our position in the Premiership now and of course our magnificent Cup win.

How times change. When we came up we looked to the likes of Bolton and Middlesborough and used them as a benchmark. It now appears Championship sides look at us as a realistic and enviable position to be in.

Personally I feel immensely proud of all we’ve achieved; long may it continue.
