So, was it really worth it?

Of course it is easy to look back with the ‘benefit of hindsight’ or even attempt to say I ‘told you so’ but how much have we gained from our time in the US these past couple of week?

To say that the visit to America this summer was on a shambolic level to that of the one last year would be wrong, but it appears to have had its moments that were not that useful to PFC to be honest…

The heat, as odd as it might sound, has ‘probably’ gone some way to help increase the stamina levels of some but to be honest I still have to ask would a week or two around Europe – if we could not stay in the UK – not have been as beneficial, just about, as this time in the US of A?

Did we need to spend 2-weeks in America anyway, especially 2-weeks with just the one game – well technically 2 as we played the Battery XI?

We have picked up a few injuries, which to be fair we could have wherever we played, so on that front things were not bad and we were not constantly travelling but it seems the heat was too intensive, with this constantly mentioned as a problem by the players and coaching staff, before, during and after this tour.

Being stranded, as we now are, is a far from ideal way to end this tour and looks like it will impact on our last planned pre-season friendly with Betis tomorrow as a result…

Another US disaster?

Well, perhaps we cannot go that far, but as the title says you do have to question ‘was it really worth it’…
