So, has Mokoena signed then?

Rewind to Sunday 24th May and hours after the 2008/09 season ended with a lacklustre defeat at Wigan ‘news broke’ that Aaron Mokoena had signed for Pompey on a free – this news broken by the South African himself.

Silence from Pompey met this…

Mokoena uttered a few more things in the days after, including his thoughts on who was actually going to be our manager – he said ‘he knew’ it was going to be Paul Hart.

Silence, still, from Pompey on all of this…

Another twist with Wolves ‘said’ to be rivalling us for him?

Something most would not have minded! Whilst he probably is not as bad as most would think, to be fair he is the South African captain, the fact that he is another defensive midfielder without a great amount of ‘technical ability’ worried most of us.

Silence, once again, from Pompey met this…

So, more than a month later we are still none the wiser – have we signed Mokoena or not? Why are the club not commenting on this, if we have agreed a deal why are we keeping it so ‘hush, hush?’

I would imagine that early in July will see confirmation of this as I would guess he will ‘officially’ become a free agent on July 1st so if he is signing he will officially sign then – then hopefully the club can actually give us an official line on this!
