A point last weekend wasn’t actually a bad one, even though Pompey held the lead. However, having lost at Bristol Rovers and drawn with Scunthorpe if a play off push is to remain on track into the second half of the season I think we could do with collecting a few wins so.
There wouldn’t be a better time to start this than winning at Rotherham, who are themselves there or thereabouts for a top six place too.
Admittedly, a point at the New York Stadium – in the first ever meeting at the New York Stadium – shouldn’t be frowned upon, but all three points could be crucial. A win and it could be enough to take Pompey back into sixth ahead of Charlton, if they aren’t able to secure victory in their game. At the same time, Rotherham winning could take them above the Blues and Addicks into the play offs, so plenty to play for.
Pompey have happy memories of games at Rotherham, all being well we can create another one on Saturday – should we defend as we can and make the most of the chances we should be able to create I cannot see why three points shouldn’t return to Fratton Park with us…
