RESERVES START AT WOLVES
Pompey’s reserves kick-off the 2009/10 season with a trip to Premier League returnees Wolves.
They visit the newly-promoted side in the Barclays Premier Reserve League South on Tuesday, August 25 before hosting Chelsea seven days later.
Last season Guy Whittingham’s side finished fourth in the table, amassing 25 points, while the league was won by Aston Villa.
They will travel to the 2008/9 table-toppers on Monday, September 14 before hosting Villa on Tuesday, January 5.
Should Pompey end the season on top they will compete in a play-off final against the winners of the Barclays Premier Reserve League North on Wednesday, May 5.
There are just nine teams competing in the southern league next season, which means Pompey will play sixteen games.
This follows Tottenham’s decision not to enter a reserve team in the competition for the forthcoming season.
