Harry Redknapp has been speaking to sky sports news today fielding questions about both Sulley Muntari and Kanu.

The questions about Muntari came about following fresh ‘rumours’ of an ‘interest’ from Italy, this time from reigning Champions Inter, but this has been dismissed: ‘I don’t know anything about it. It’s a new one to me.

‘I don’t want to sell him. He is one of my best players and is a terrific young talent.

‘If someone from Italy has been in touch, they have certainly not been in touch with me.’

The Ghanaian frustrated many fans – myself included – last season but as I have said several times I firmly believe that he will come good this season on a consistent basis as his quality will shine through now that he has realised what the English game is all about.

That said if we genuinely were offered £15m then it would be very hard to say no… I do not believe there is any interest from Inter at all anyway to be honest!

Redknapp was also asked yet again about the Kanu situation, and where we were with his contract signing – or not as the case is. We got the usual answer: ‘Peter is dealing with it. The big man has done great for me and I love him.

‘It is up to him at the end of the day. Hopefully he will get it signed and I’m sure he will.

‘He loves it here, he is happy here. I don’t think anyone will look after him as well as we do.’

Yawn… Jesus, has the pen ran out of ink! That can be the only reason for a contract not to have been signed yet.

Yes he will be hard pushed to play much this season, but it really is decision time now – sign or go, simple as… I do not know how many times I have had the feeling of déjà vu on this issue now!

If he does not take part in the African tour then I think there is a very, very good chance that that is the end for ‘King Kanu’, but then again as we know from previous developments until the week before we kick off the season anything is possible…

Depending on where you read it, and who is saying what, Younes Kaboul is going anywhere bar his ‘apparent’ desired destination of Pompey…

The defender has been a target all summer for Harry Redknapp, well longer really, but according to him he could be off to Villa although despite previously being quoted as saying ‘Younes wouldn’t join Sunderland even if there was an earthquake’ by his agent Rudy Raba, the same man has now said that a decision will be made in 24 hours which could see him go to the Stadium of Light!

His agent says that having met with Roy Keane the Frenchman was impressed and will decide shortly if he will go there afterall: ‘Younes was very impressed with Roy Keane when he met him, especially with his vision for Sunderland.

‘He was also very impressed with the city, stadium and facilities which, to be fair, are second to none.

‘Younes also appreciated the fact that Roy and Sunderland have given him a couple of days to make a decision. I now expect him to make up his mind in the next 24 hours.’

You never know with agents do you, they say one thing and can often mean another. This could be a ply to force Pompey’s, or apparently Villa’s hand? Either hopefully we will find out in the next 24 hours one way or another – but we do not seem that likely to make any sales to fund his move anytime soon, which is apparently what we need to do…

And finally, listening to The Quay commentary last night an interesting theory was put forward by Mark Mudie, it happens sometimes!

He feels that a deal to bring Shaun Wright-Phillips to Pompey is a done thing… we just need to raise the funds to cover this deal now! It is an interesting theory, as there does not seem to be any other interest at all in the winger?

Thoughts on this, and all the rest as ever please guys…
