Redknapp denies transfer talk

Reports have grown increasingly stronger that Pompey could use Matty Taylor and/or Gary O’Neil as bait to land transfer targets, or simply sell them to raise funds – however Harry Redknapp has said that this will not be the case.

Taylor is said to be closing in on a move to Spurs and with Yakubu still available O’Neil is constantly said to be the player Boro want, plus £10m in cash also!

Peter Storrie’s words that some players will go that the fans will not be happy about, seemingly backing up the reports that Taylor and indeed O’Neil could be such players.

However Redknapp has said that they are two of his best players and that he wants to keep them, so they will be going nowhere. I sincerely hope that this proves the case and in 11 days time they are both still Pompey players.

Yep, players do, or have to be moved on at times, but this is usually because they outgrow a club, or the club outgrows them, but this is not the case at all with either player, nor is it ever likely to be the case – in as much as we outgrow them anyway.

I have been disappointed many times in the past when players have left, but more often than not we have had little option as they had wanted to leave, but unless either of these two will be England internationals want to leave why should we ever think of selling them – particularly at the peanuts that are being spoken about for them!

You have to back the club with what they do, but should either be sold then I will be bitterly disappointed and to be honest I would not agree with it at all, as my thinking is both players are very important parts of this club on and off the pitch, so if we let them go a massive chunk of this clubs heart will go with them.

I am glad that Redknapp has come out and said that both will be staying, but as we know what is said and what happens are not always the same thing – all we can do now is just wait and hope it does prove the case.
