Pompey earned a very valuable and much needed point in our latest Barclays Premiership match with Reading at the Madejski, what about the others.

Saturday, 17/03/07
Blackburn 1-2 West Ham
In the evening LIVE SKY Sports Prem Plus game struggling West Ham were a goal down through Chris Samba (47) before Carlos Tevez (71) converted a dubious penalty to bring West Ham level. Bobby Zamora’s (75) effort was then ruled to have crossed the line when it clearly hadn’t to give West Ham a priceless victory. David Bentley (90) was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Chelsea 3-0 Sheff Utd
Andrei Shevchenko (4) opened the scoring early on for Chelsea, with Salomon Kalou (17) adding a second shortly after. Michael Ballack (58) scored Chelsea’s third and final while Sheff Utd had Rob Hulse carried off with a broken ankle.

Man Utd 4-1 Bolton
Man Utd ran rampant in the lunchtime LIVE SKY Sport Prem Plus fixture to maintain their grip at the top of the Premiership. Goals from Ji-Sung Park (14 & 25) and Wayne Rooney (17) had Utd cruising by half time. Wayne Rooney (74) added his second and Utd’s fourth before a late Gary Speed (87) penalty.

Middlesbrough 0-2 Man City
Some of the pressure piled on Stuart Pearce was released as Sylvain Distin (61) and Emile Mpenza (74) scored second half goals to ease City’s relegation fears.

Tottenham 3-1 Watford
Jermaine Jenas (41) had Spurs in control before Paul Robinson (63) astonishingly scored from a free kick just outside of his own area. The long clearance was missed by everyone to leave Ben Foster embarrassed in the Watford goal. Hossam Ghaly (85) secured victory before a consolation for Watford through Darius Henderson (89).

Wigan 0-0 Fulham
A dour game saw barely a shot on target as the points were shared.

Sunday, 18/03/07
Aston Villa 0-0 Liverpool
The first of a double header of LIVE SKY Sports football saw Villa and Liverpool play out a 0-0 draw.

Charlton 2-0 Newcastle
With Charlton desperate for points the Valley faithful were rewarded as Chinese Captain Zheng Zhi (53) scored his first goal for the club. A former reported Pompey target Jerome Thomas (88) secured the points with a late penalty.

Everton 1-0 Arsenal
The second part of the LIVE SKY Sports double header almost failed to produce a goal also. Andrew Johnson (90) stole victory for Everton at the death.
