Pompey’s injury latest

Pompey physio Gary Sadler has today spoken to pfcTV to give us the latest injury situation, lets have an update on this…

We already suspected that Sean Davis would miss out against West Brom, but this is almost certain to be the case now with it confirmed that ‘bending his knee’ – following the 9 stitches he had in it – is a major problem, with these stitches not being removed until the end of this week. So, I think we have to concede that he is out, like I say though, I think most of us had.

Jermaine Pennant not being used at the weekend left many thinking that despite the fact he was on the bench he was not actually fit enough to have played much of a part in the game – I would guess the sending off confirmed he would not get on that day. But with Glen Johnson suspended, and with another week of training under his belt, he is an almost dead cert starter…

Speaking of Johnson, injury might have ruled him out anyway even though suspension will. He came back from international duty with a ‘sore hamstring’, which has had a scan since the weekend – and was something he is said to have been feeling towards the end anyway – but it is ‘hoped’ he will be fit to face Bolton, fingers crossed!

Marc Wilson and Jerome Thomas, who both picked up hamstring problems in a reserve game recently, are both back running again and ‘progressing nicely’.

Papa Bouba Diop however sounds as though he ‘might’ not quite be progressing as was hoped – still well, but not as well as early indications might have suggested? So I am now starting to again think we will do well to see him play again this season… And that is a shame as I honestly do think, not that I ever thought I would say this, we are badly missing him! His presence in midfield would really be helping us along now.

Lauren has a ‘sore knee’, quite how he has managed this god only knows as he does not do bugger all to get injured – maybe walking to meet journos to slag off those that employ him caused some damage!

At least Linvoy Primus ‘earned’ his slight hip niggle playing for the reserves last week, but he is running again.

Poor Jon Stewart though, the joke about him ‘calling for him Mummy’ and ‘squealing like a little girl’ has carried on – although Saddler did apologise… for likening his ‘screams’ to a little girl anyway, as that was unfair on little girls!

All players have been out training, or at least running, bar Davis and Johnson, which is a good thing though as it means most are available, or getting near to being available if need be, but none will be risked too soon – but thumbs up all in all I reckon.

PLAY UP POMPEY!
