…sadly I cannot see him making much of an impact – if any – this season… Sorry, I hope that I did not get your hopes up fellas?

Danijel Subotic has become our first signing of the transfer window, arriving form Swiss club Basel for an undisclosed compensation fee.

The highly rated 18-year-old striker has signed a 3 and a half year contact after impressing during a recent trial.

Harry Redknapp has told the Pompey Site that he is ‘one for the future’: ‘he was recommended to us so we brought him over for a few days’ training and he did well.

‘We’ve taken a gamble on him and hopefully he’s one for the future.

‘We’ll just have to see how he goes’.

If he played at all this season, let alone in the next I would be surprised to be honest fellas so although it is good for us to have made our first signing, and again for us to be looking to the future he will not really help us much at the moment will he…
