With Jamie Ashdown currently injured and Pompey already looking for another Goalkeeper Harry Redknapp could make a move for England International David James.

With the Premiership season just over two weeks away, with the news of Ashdown`s injury during the week Pompey`s need for a third ‘keeper has increased and a move for 35-year-old James is interesting Redknapp.

“We need another keeper and David is a very good player. He has been England’s number one and is proven in The Premiership,” Redknapp said speaking in Thursday`s Daily Mirror.

He went on to add,

‘He is someone I would like to bring here.’

James has not always been portrayed in the kindest of ways but his quality and ability at the very highest level can`t be questioned. His possible arrival would not only strengthen our ‘keeping department but add competition to current number one Dean Kiely.

Stuart Pearce may well be reluctant to sell, but with Nicky Weaver again fully fit and highly rated Joe Hart recently added to the City books, not to mention the legendary Peter Schmeichel`s son, Kasper another promising youngster a £2 million offer could sway the Manchester City boss.
