It has been a while since the ‘Pompey Chimes’ was issued, which is basically a brief summary of the days events, but it is time it came back for Sunday’s offering of Pompey in the news…

I am informed that there are a lot of reports out in France involving Pompey today, with these crediting Pompey with moves for various individuals. The Peter Crouch move is virtually confirmed news is filtering through, along with talk of Shaun Wright-Phillips and a new target Lucas Neill!

Crouch and Wright-Phillips have been spoken about plenty recently but Neill is an entirely new name, and to be honest is a player that I hope we do not sign as he appears to be one of the games real ‘mercenary’ types. When he left Blackburn to ‘further his career’ he decided that West Ham offered him more than Liverpool – yep, West Ham certainly offered more – a lot more cash that is!

Quite why we would want Neill, even as cover, anyway is anybodies guess, so this is highly unlikely to happen if you ask me…

Younes Kaboul has been linked with Pompey for sometime now, and once again I am told that reports in France are linking us heavily with him and a £5m deal could be completed soon with him desperate to sign for us, and us alone! Vital Spurs is covering this in full.

And finally, and not for the first time Leroy Lita is again being linked with Pompey – this is despite the immanent arrival of Crouch.

The former England under 21 striker has looked like being on his way out of Reading for some time, and spent a spell on loan with Charlton last season. His agent is quoted as saying ‘a spell with a fun but disciplined side like Portsmouth’ would do him good.

‘Should’ Lita arrive then I think that would be curtains for Dave Nugent and/or Kanu though to be honest as we would not keep the lot!

So there we have it guys, a pretty eventful day with some old, some new and some revisited links – but what do we think on them? As always thoughts below…
