Phew, a welcome relief

In all fairness, and I mean no disrespect to Damien McCrory when I say this – as we cannot actually say, for certain, how influential he’ll be to Pompey – had he been sidelined for a prolonged period of time we wouldn’t actually know how much of a miss the loanee would be.

However, news the left back should sit out less than two weeks is a welcome relief.

On-loan Burton full back McCrory limped out of the win against Fleetwood but a scan suggests the left back curse hasn’t struck too badly.

He’ll miss Scunthorpe and probably Bristol Rovers but ought to be in contention to return against Oldham on Saturday week. Well, working on the assumption McCrory misses only 10 days, which is what the News reported Kenny Jackett as informing them.

Meanwhile, Brett Pitman will undergo surgery on his broken nose next month.

The Pompey captain will face Scunthorpe, Bristol Rovers and Oldham to see out the month before going in for his operation on Monday 2nd October.

It means Pitman will miss the Checkatrade game against Crawley on the Tuesday – not a bad thing as he would have sat that out anyway I reckon – but should be fit to return to face Gillingham in the televised game on the Sunday.
