Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

24/10/1936: Richard Beattie
24/10/1937: Pat Neil
24/10/1987: Anthony Vanden Borre
24/10/1993: George Colson

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Richard Beattie, Pat Neil, Anthony Vanden Borre and George Colson – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Beattie and Neil were both well before my time but I know of Neil pretty well from stories shared.

I remember Vanden Borre well, who, despite starting poorly, did well with the Blues in the end. Colson’s part of the most recent history with Pompey but I cannot recall him.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 18
Won – 3
Drawn – 9
Lost – 6

The last two-games for me, I’ve not seen a win or a goal though – I cannot recall the draw with Mansfield at Fratton Park in 2015 with the other goalless draw coming in 2009 at Hull, which was one of a run of three years running I went to the KC Stadium.

What are your memories of Beattie, Neil, Vanden Borre and/or Colson from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

PLAY UP POMPEY
