No games on this day previously…so I thought what else could have happened in Pompey history on this day and referred to Roger Holmes` excellent book ‘On this day`. Drew a comparable blank too with just news that in 1978 Frank Burrows signed Jack Smith as his chief coach and a year later Steve Foster and Peter Ellis signed new deals under the new Freedom of Contract rules.
