Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

20/1/1901: Henry Havelock
20/1/1902: Frederick Cook
20/1/1938: Derek Dougan
20/1/1940: Dave Dodson
20/1/1957: Alan Kane

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Henry Havelock, Frederick Cook, Derek Dougan, Dave Dodson and Alan Kane – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Havelock and Cook well before my time – well, that of anyone reading in fact – and I cannot say Dodson and Kane are familiar to me either to be honest.

Dougan was also before my time but is a footballer I know of well from what I had seen, read and been told. His time with other clubs, especially Wolves, is where he’s most famous though.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 10
Won – 5
Drawn – 1
Lost – 4

I do recall the most recent defeat against Charlton at Fratton Park in 2007 – when we were very much fancied to win – but wasn’t at it and cannot claim a game yet again today. This will not be added too as I’m not at Rotherham this afternoon either.

What are your memories of Havelock, Cook – both way too early for anyone here, Dougan, Dodson and/or Kane from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
