No Rotherham grudge for Jackett

Kenny Jackett was one of those in charge at the New York Stadium last season, a campaign that ended with Rotherham dropping into League One from the Championship.

A 39-day spell ended in November 2016 meaning, obviously, this will be his first return to the Millers since that disappointing time, from his point of view, ended, which ultimately worked to the advantage of Pompey of course.

This return will be the focus for many but his priority is getting a result with the Blues’ progress all that concerns him, not that Jackett holds any grudges regardless.

He told portsmouthfc.co.uk: ‘I don’t bear any grudges to anyone there, but all of my focus is on Pompey and we’re playing one of our rivals.’

As we know, several players will be missing from the squad again, which will make a difficult job all the more so against a side battling for a top six position much like ourselves. In fact it is possible the side to win – if there is a winner – will end Saturday in a play off place.

Jackett’s certainly ready for a tough afternoon.

‘They are another side who have play-off aspirations like us – and quite rightly,’ added the boss. ‘A lot other clubs will be looking to break into that group as well, so it’s going to be a real race for the top six over the next few months.’

‘Rotherham have been up there the whole season and will be looking to bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt.’

There’s no doubting this will indeed be a really difficult game, more so given the fact we’re on our travels and missing some key players, but I’m confident enough we can come back from Yorkshire with something, in actual fact I reckon we’ll sneak a 1-0 win…what about you?
