Oldham – 17th March – Boundary Park

The recent Pompey form at Fratton Park has been terrible. Then again it’s hardly stunning away from the South Coast, but we’ll hope to put Oldham under pressure and collect a much-needed three points in Greater Manchester this afternoon.

If we’re unable to get something from the Latics it becomes a possibility we could well get dragged into trouble? So, forget finishing in a respectable midtable to top-10 position on our League One return, as arresting an alarming run of form would be far from easy…

Last Saturday offered something in way of encouragement for me as I actually enjoyed most of that day, especially the opening 45 minutes. But when the wheels came off, and the young and inexperienced side saw confidence lost, these wheels came off dramatically.

Brandon Haunstrup was a real positive at Fratton though – which saw him voted as our Man of the Match on here – so he surely has to start as a left back of left wingback?

What the poll asked – Gillingham MotM

How you voted – Sub – Haunstrup 36%
Lowe 31%
Burgess 10%
Ronan 5%
Sub – Chaplin 5%
Walkes 5%
Whatmough 5%
McGee 3%
Donohue 0%
Naismith 0%
Clarke 0%
Deslandes 0%
Close 0%

Given the season we’ve seen I cannot help but think there’s a Blues victory awaiting us at Oldham.

However, given the current run of form; and how quickly confidence drains away from this side if the opposition get on top, another defeat probably wouldn’t surprise anyone really…would it?
