It was only a matter of time before the ludicrous talk began, of course this started yesterday with Arabianbusiness.com claiming that Diego Maradona was coming to Pompey as a ‘global ambassador’.
This story rumbled on, finding its way all over t’internet – however Dr SAF, or at least his people, firstly refused to comment and then denied this, something they continue to do.
Well, today Arabianbusiness.com outdoes itself! Although, and has been rightly pointed out they only report what a lawyer is ‘claiming’, what they say later on from a ‘source’ is much more creditable.
The ‘claims’ are that Maradona will not only be coming to Pompey but would bring the likes of David Villa, Samuel Eto’o and David Silva with him…

Methinks some pretty old leftover ‘rumours’, and ‘crazy talk’ from the early Citeh era are ‘the source’ of these claims!
Despite the continued dismissals of an interest on the ‘Argentina legend’ an apparent ‘advisor’ to Dr SAF has today ‘confirmed’ that Remigio Maradona, the cousin of the Argentine superstar footballer – but drug cheating well cheat – has ‘held discussion’ with the club about a role: ‘Dr Sulaiman has had some discussions with Remigio Maradona about an ambassador style role for Diego Maradona, but it is more to do with developing the youth academy at Portsmouth.
‘We’re talking to a lot of people about a lot of ideas to take the club forward, so it’s not appropriate to say which may or may not happen, especially regarding what are private emails.’
Hmmm, it is good to have ‘big plans’ but lets not start believing the absurd!
I have had a lot of time for Arabianbusiness.com, and to be fair they have been pretty accurate, but these latest ‘claims’ are not giving them much credit, are they?
