Nugent looking for more goals

David Nugent scored his first Pompey goal last night, then immediately saw Harry Redknapp admit that he might sell him!

Nugent has since spoken on the Pompey Site, where he paid tribute to the fans and is now hoping for more goals ‘hopefully I can get a few more chances now and score a few more goals.

‘I’m delighted. I just want to show the fans that I can score goals. I’ve started three games, come off the bench twice, and scored a goal.

‘I’m happy. That goal’s going to give me more confidence and hopefully more goals will start flying in. Strikers are paid to score goal, that’s what I’m here for.

‘The fans have been class. I know they’re going to be behind me all the time, and it was great to hear them sing my name when I scored’.

I was absolutely delighted when Nugent scored – and so was he, did you see his face – it was probably his hardest chance yet, but he took it really well and looked over the moon to have done so.

You have to ask yourself this one question, do these comments sound much like they are coming from a fella that is looking to leave Pompey? They do not to me.

That is what makes what Redknapp said last night all the more perplexing.

Players sometimes say what we want to hear, but they say these to other sources other than the clubs official site, if Nugent wanted to leave he would not be saying these kinds of things to the Pompey site.

The same applies to Matty Taylor, he is not looking, sounding or acting like a fella that wants to leave this club either so neither should be allowed to – come on Pompey do the right thing.
